Features

Clora Online Process

MWDXRF Chlorine Analyzer

  • Using MWD XRF monochromatic wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence technology, ultra-low background
  • LOD: 0.2ppm (Hydrocarbon), 0.6ppm (Aqueous)
  • Dynamic Range:0.2 ppm – 3000 ppm
  • For most application purposes, one calibration curve over full dynamic range
  • Robust industrial design: wall mounted or stand alone
  • Low Maintenance: no consumable liquids, gasses, combustion, or sample conversion
  • ATEX Zone 1 and NEC Cl | Div 2 Certified

Working principle

A monochromatic X-ray beam with a wavelength suitable to excite the K-shell electrons of chlorine is focused onto a test specimen contained in a sample cell. The fluorescent Kα radiation at 0.473 nm (4.73 Å) emitted by sulfur is collected by a fixed monochromator (analyzer). The intensity (counts per second) of the chlorine X rays is measured using a suitable detector and converted to the concentration of chlorine (mg/kg) in a test specimen using a calibration equation.

Standards

ASTM D7536-16 Standard Test Method for Chlorine in Aromatics by Monochromatic Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry
ASTM D4929-19 Standard Test Method for Determination of Organic Chloride Content in Crude Oil (procedure C)
SH/T 0977-2019 Using Monochromatic wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometr to determine Light liquid fuels determination of chlorine content

Applications

Pipeline terminals: interface cuts, custody transfer acceptance, and tank contamination prevention Refinery: for hydrofining unit and blending system
